Another review:-
"Just wanted to follow up our conversation from yesterday and tell you how much I enjoyed the 1st book in The Owners series. It surprised me and kept me interested throughout. I enjoyed getting to know the characters. You are left desperately wanting to know how this bizarre owner/pet situation came to be... what the heck are the adult Eyons up to ....and how can the situation be resolved if at all!! Can't wait to read the next and find out more."
So what more can I say? If you haven't yet read The Owners series how are you going to be able to discuss it with friends?

If only...
Ahhh...back to the trusty laptop for another chapter of The Owners, Volume VI : Blood Sky.
Last week I was too busy to get any writing done, having spent one whole day at a lovely school teaching creative writing to years 3-6 and another day doing book signings at the Women of the Year Luncheon and Awards Ceremony.
I had a fabulous time at both events and was lucky enough to meet some wonderful people and fantastic children. I was also amused to hear one little girl say to another when they were queuing up for my autograph, "my mum has all her books and she loves them."
The rejoinder to that was a swiftly delivered, "well so does my dad. He has all of them too!"
What made me laugh was the blatant fibbing going on. Now don't get me wrong, I am honoured that many people come back to me to tell me how much they enjoy my books but I am aware that I do not yet have the status or universal recognition of the likes of Ms. Rowling, for example. So the idea that both of these little girls' parents had my collection of books was ridiculous, if rather flattering.
Anyway onwards and upwards!
I will fill you in on how Volume VI is going throughout the week. In the meantime if you wish to drop me a line, well you know where I am.
Hope to see you at my next scheduled event, at the Dr Who/sci-fi event, where I shall be selling signed copies of my books and holding a creative writing workshop...be there if you dare ;)

Like a black Jesus, Denzel appeared to
be waiting to welcome his lambs back into the fold; to be offering redemption.
But deliverance from
sin was not an option , nor was it Denzel’s to offer. Taken from The Owners Volume VI: Blood Sky.
This is the volume where everything turns and twists around once more, where what you thought was happening is not what actually happens...
Humans are complex characters and that is something I have tried very hard to get across in my books. Sometimes you think you know the very soul of a person, only to be proved wrong at the worst possible time.
My poor characters are finding that truth out...I hope that they have the strength of character to endure what will come to pass.
Happy reading.

Recommendations
The Guardian newspaper is asking for recommendations regarding good self-published authors. As I am already listed on their sales site I can only hope that some kind soul recommends me...not that I am suggesting that of course ;)
Here is the link should anyone feel inclined to make any recommendations :-

Ok, here is a review of my first book, warts and all.
One thing I will state openly is that book 1 did go to print with typos and I have been pulled up about this before...I am sorry about that and have endeavoured to learn from my mistakes and the reprinted versions which are now available should contain no typos. But the bit I am focusing on is where he says that for all that,
he loved it! So I guess I must be doing something right...

But the bit I am focusing on is where he says that for all that,
he loved it! So I guess I must be doing something right...
So here it is.
...
I’ll start with this: on a technical level, this book is utterly horrendous. From the very beginning it is filled with misplaced commas, excessive exclamation marks and ropy formatting. Various words are capitalized which probably shouldn’t be, most notably “Pet” and “Eyon”. In general, this book gave me the impression of an author with much raw talent but with little care for the editing process.
And yet, for much of the time reading it, I absolutely loved it.
The book’s concept is certainly a novel one. In Alone, humanity is dominated a race of avian humanoids called eyons. The creatures frequently take in human children to live as pets and servants; Loni and San, the book’s protagonists, are two such pets. Their owners, like most other eyons, spend most of their lives hooked up to mysterious “work machines” and are consequently oblivious to the world around them. Loni, however, is different in that she spends most of her time with her owner’s hatchling, who she calls Little. When Little’s work machine arrive, the two flee in order to keep Little from becoming like the others. San, meanwhile, leaves without prompting in order to discover the truth behind humanity’s place in the world.
Chapters alternate between Loni’s and San’s perspectives, with the final chapter incorporating both points of view at once. Of the two, I must admit that I preferred Loni’s sections by a fairly long way. I could genuinely feel the bond between Loni and Little as I read about them, making them very easy to emphasize with. There is a real sense of progression in Loni’s chapters, as both she and Little learn about the world around them and vow to change it for the better. San’s chapters were hardly bad, but their events felt quite random at times and I didn’t feel that he developed as much as he could have done.
My only major criticism of this book is the ending, which leaves almost all of the book’s plot threads open and seems intended solely to set up a series. This is compounded by the fact that all other “Owners” books have been prequels so far, which leaves me to wonder if the author will ever go back to Loni, Little and San. I really hope that she does, as it would be a shame to end their tale where it currently is. Here’s hoping it happens.

The Owners, Volume V : Eyon Rising
Oh I know it's the summer holidays but much as I'm enjoying the sun and the leisure time, I'm itching to get back to editing Volume V of my debut series and then to begin Volume VI. You see I know what is about to happen...

Now I bet that wasn't quite what you were thinking of...
These are my blog statistics and they do make for curious analysis. Russia consistently overtakes the US in reading my blog and sometimes even overtakes the UK...go figure.
Anyway I might be a little quiet on the blog front for a few days and indeed quiet generally, as I am about to have my tonsils taken out.
I am rather worried about this, largely due to my friend who keeps telling me that the pain is excruciating...and the fact that it will prevent me talking, singing, laughing and eating properly for a while...all the things I LOVE to do!!!
But hopefully I will still be well enough to write the odd post or two here. As mentioned in yesterday's blog, I recently had my royalty figures come in and it was heartening to see that whilst sales of copies of volume I are still on the rise, sales of volumes II and III have also increased, indicating that I am achieving longer term readership within some quarters. Now I have said this before but it bears saying again - please, please post a review on Amazon or wherever you bought your copy from. Even if it is a single line, it will help me, I promise! And remember, books IV and V are almost ready to be published with the remaining five books in the series awaiting my attention. In addition to that, I have a few other novels in the pipeline, some sci-fi and some more of a cross-over between genres. I'm not saying any more than that right now...you will have to bide your time ;) Anyway, once again, if you are one of my loyal readers, then many thanks. If not, then that is a question you need to be asking of yourself, because quite frankly you are depriving yourself of a really good experience ... :) Wish me luck in waving my tonsils goodbye...adieu for now. Money, money, money!
My ebook sales figures have just come in for June and I am quietly optimistic that I might be able to stretch to a celebratory bags of chips for the kids [although it would be between them, not one each...the finances won't stretch quite that far!!!] ;)
Joking apart, if you have recently bought one of my ebooks, thank you very much.
If you would prefer a signed paperback copy, you can still email me at Carmen.capuano@ymail.com and send me whatever message you would like me to write [within reason of course ;)] Postage can also be arranged.
...
Happy hols and enjoy the sunshine...now there's a thought...why not take your personalised copy of The Owners [volumes I, II or III] out into the garden for a relaxing read...
The world is your oyster, slurp it well ;)

Another little snippet of the chapter/book I am working on at the moment.
Greta reached deep inside herself and pulled out
Gretchen, the little street-smart girl who was so good at interpreting body
language. He did not know it was you
standing there, Gretchen thought at her. So
who then? Greta thought back at herself. Obviously someone else! The doctor? Gretchen supplied. It was
logical, especially the comment about cleaning himself up. Greta thought no
more about it. But right in the very, very back of her mind Gretchen mulled it
over.
