I am a little behind [that made me laugh, writing that for some reason] but I am doing my very best. I promise as soon as I can, I will fill you in on what I thought of the Women of the Year Awards, the play Anita and Me and any other events I haven't yet written up.
After all, I only have a whole house to clean, another to decorate, the contents of one house to pack up, the remaining half of the newest book to write, five more to edit...oh and an entire magazine to sort...what could possibly be taking up all of my time?
Happy Reading!

NEWS!
One of my very first reviews ever, was from a gentleman in Hawaii who raved about The Owners, Volume I, and insisted it should be compulsory reading in schools.
I have never forgotten those kind words, and will be eternally grateful, Richard Sommery-Gade. So today I am posting here to say that your comments were perhaps far-seeing.
Yesterday, I discovered that my books were being considered for schools not only in England, but in Egypt! So keep your fingers crossed for me folks and I'll let you know what happens.
Happy Reading!

Press Release.
Bromsgrove author Carmen Capuano will be counting the cars
racing by on the Aston Expressway this autumn, when the large digital billboard
located there is displaying an advertisement for her latest book.
“I really can’t believe that my novel will be up there for
everyone to see – it’s almost beyond my wildest dreams!” said the popular
writer. “Thousands of cars pass that spot every day – and now they will see the
cover of Split Decision!”
To add further to Carmen’s excitement, WHSmith in Birmingham will
be stocking the newly released book on its shelves, facilitating its shoppers’
searches for a good read.
Said Manager Adrian Rankovic of
the decision to put Ms Capuano’s novel on display in a prime spot in the
window, “We are aware of exactly what our customers are looking for in a book.
They want something they can fully immerse themselves in; good writing with a
great plot. So if they haven’t already discovered Carmen Capuano for
themselves, we are happy to bring her to their attention.”
So things may not quite be “written in the stars” yet for the
Midlands author, but they are certainly getting higher in the sky.

Breaking news...
Big exciting news... My latest novel is going to be displayed on a giant media screen on the Aston Expressway AND WHSmith will be stocking Split Decision in their stores!
I can't tell you how excited I am! I will be standing there gazing up at the display for hours on end no doubt.
People often ask what it is like to see your name on a book or to hold in your hands something that you created. The answer is that its a strange feeling. A novel is a piece of work that a novelist doesn't just write, they imagine it into being, so to hold it finally in your hands is rather surreal, almost magical, in the truest sense of the word.
I will keep you posted about the advertising date and perhaps you will be passing by at just the right time...
I know I will :)

Opportunity knocks...
It seems opportunities are like buses, you wait ages for one and then several come along at once...
Time is in short supply for me over the next couple of days and I really don't mean to keep you in suspense, but I haven't got the luxury of creating a full blog post right at this very minute, so please check back in a few days and get the scoop!
You know what to do until then - Happy Reading x

Exciting news!
I am very pleased to be able to inform you that the Bromsgrove Standard will begin serialising one of my books at the end of March!
Being a local newspaper with its ear to the ground, the Standard works harder than most national newspapers to deliver what its readers want - pertinent information and articles with a local flavour.
Some of you may have read my short story which appeared ahead of Valentine's day a few weeks ago, but the story which will now be printed bears no relation to the previous one.
Storm Clouds is about what might happen if our current global weather extremes continue. It is a story about ordinary people who suddenly find themselves in extraordinary situations and how they strive for survival against the odds.
You will meet Jack Ryan [named after the famous Tom Clancy character by his father] who suddenly finds himself in charge of his nephew Dan, in a perilous situation. And you will meet Doctor Georgia Wade, who shelters her best friend's three children from the encroaching storms.
I hope you will love my characters as much as I do.
If you would like to get your story hit all in one go then follow this link http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=carmen%20capuano&sprefix=carme%2Caps&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Acarmen%20capuano
In the meantime - everlasting thanks to the Bromsgrove Standard and Happy Reading! x

The Plan?
Today I am working on The Plan. It's turning out to be quite a tale and as usual there are elements contained within it that I never envisaged from the start.
It originated from a short story I wrote some years ago and may yet have a change in title before I am done but essentially its about a woman and her struggle to re-establish a life for herself after the demise of her marriage.
Here is a little excerpt where the main character ,Suzie, is forced to tell her children that their dad has just become engaged to someone else :-
It originated from a short story I wrote some years ago and may yet have a change in title before I am done but essentially its about a woman and her struggle to re-establish a life for herself after the demise of her marriage.
Here is a little excerpt where the main character ,Suzie, is forced to tell her children that their dad has just become engaged to someone else :-
“Well
I wondered how you felt about it?”
Forrest admitted, refusing to meet her eyes. “I mean he was your husband
first.”
Yes
and of course technically he still was, although she omitted to give them that piece of information.
How did she feel? Betrayed? Relieved?
Sad? Like one door had closed but another had opened?
To
avoid the question for a moment she fetched a large bag of popcorn and tipped
it into a bowl. Watching the bowl fill up she knew suddenly how she could
explain herself.
“You
see all this popcorn?” she placed the bowl on the table. “it all looks alike,
doesn’t it?” she picked out two individual pieces. “But in fact every single
bit is different to every other bit, the way it pops, the angles and particular
shape it makes…so that finding two bits that can fit together is really hard.
Sometimes you can jam them together and the salt grains or toffee will make
them stick and other times it won't.”
She
watched Ellie select two bits and push them together.
“Well
people are like that too. Sometimes they can stick together and sometimes they
can’t. Your dad and I just were the type that couldn’t…” something caught her
eye and she dipped her hand into the bowl, plucking it out and curling her fist
around it.
“And
then sometimes - if you are really lucky - you find this,” she uncurled her fingers
to reveal two kernels of corn which had somehow in the popping process fused
together.
I hope to be posting some exciting news soon.
Until then - Happy Reading!
